Curriculum Night Tidbits

In case you were unable to attend curriculum night last week, here is a quick recap of what you missed.

Arrival and Dissmisal

The building opens at 7:10 am, if you are in the car line please wait until you see a teacher on duty before leaving your child. The building may still be locked. Once children arrive they must go to the mini theater. Unless they need to eat breakfast and then they should go to the cafeteria first and then to the mini theater. This is different from kindergarten, there will be no teachers on duty in the first grade hall. We pick them up from the theater around 7:45.

The tardy bell rings at 7:50, if your child arrives after 7:50 he/she will need to get a pass from the office.

No volunteers or early dismissal after 2:15, this is a very busy time in the front office.
Please send a note in your child's folder about any change in transportation. If you have a last minute change please call the front office. Please do not send an email or leave a message on the direct line, I may not get it in time.

Lunch
We have lunch everyday at 11:11. Please remember to not bring in fast food, it is school policy.

Communication
Remember to check your learner's R.E.D folder everyday. I will also send out emails with blog updates. Feel free to share our blog address with family. Grandparents love getting a look into our first grade classroom.

Homework
For the first three weeks of school we will have Read to Me reading logs. Starting the second week in September your reader will be bringing books home from our classroom library. In order to bring a new book home, you must bring back your book and book bag.  I encourage you to continue to read to your reader, this is so important in building a strong foundation and love of reading.

****If you were unable to attend and would like the packet sent home in your child's folder please let me know. In this packet are proper letter formation guides, a number chart, and alphabet linking chart. I suggest you put these in a folder to easily access these to help with homework. Also included in the packet is a volunteer sheet and parent survey. ****
